My LGBTQ Story: the Extraordinary Power of the Ordinary

I am a member of the LGBTQ community, a realization I came to in 2022. While I can’t fully assess how things have changed within the community over time, I have noticed an increasing polarization in societal perceptions towards this community —not just in China, but globally. Some people are accepting and live harmoniously with the LGBTQ community, while others react in extreme and hostile ways.

As part of this community, I simply wish to be treated like anyone else. I don't seek any special privileges, just the opportunity to live my life as a student without judgment or misconceptions. Fortunately, I’m surrounded by many supportive people—mentally, my teacher, friends, family, and psychiatrist, and physically, my endocrinologists and surgeons—who help me on this journey.

While those who respect and embrace my identity make me feel safe and welcomed, I am also aware that many still struggle to accept LGBTQ individuals. I hope that more people can let go of their prejudices and embrace us for who we are.
